Allow myself to introduce……ahem……myself. I’m Josh Hargett. I’m just an ordinary guy. Just like you. And you. And you too.
Now about a month ago, my buddy Dave and I had a great idea: why don’t we start a podcast? We’ve been through what many would consider some unique life experiences. We have worn many different hats, in many different professions in our short time on Earth. So we, just as much as anybody, have a story we’d like to tell.
I thought it’d be easy enough. Just record some audio and BAM! put it on the internet. How hard could that be? Well, as it turns out, podcasting, much like Transformers (awesome Hasbro cartoon version, not the crappy Michael Bay version)has more to it than meets the eye.
Sure, we could literally just talk about something for an 30 minutes, or an hour, and post it online. But who in their right mind would listen to such dribble? NO ONE! That’s who! We decided to do it right, and started brainstorming. Upon first researching the subject, I thought to myself, “It may as well be rocket science!” But alas, cooler heads prevailed and things started coming together. We formulated a game plan, and as of today, April 3, 2017, we’re near the finish, and about ready to record our first of hopefully many podcasts.
My goal with this blog is to walk you through the steps we have taken thus far. If anyone has any suggestions as steps we may have missed, or things that could make our process run smoother, please feel free to comment and/or drop us a line!
So without further ado, here’s our game plan:
- Build a website.
We decided it would be best to have a main hub, a place where people could find all things associated with our podcast. They’ll be able to look up our most recent podcasts, see our YouTube related content, learn a little bit more about us, and if they’re really bored, check out our blog,(hehe)
- Start a YouTube page.
After some brainstorming, it was also decided, why limit ourselves to just audio? With a YouTube page, we can have a visual representation of the podcast and also branch out into other video related projects. We’re planning on doing pc related walkthroughs or how-to’s, retro and maybe current game reviews/playthroughs, and movie reviews in addition to the video version of our podcast.
- Let people know what we’re up to.
Facebook. Twitter. Instagram. The big 3 social media platforms. We have developed a page or fanpage for all avenues just to let people know what we are building and planning to do with the future.
That’s the current game plan. Now, I must admit, building the website was probably the most time consuming process of all 3, but a lot of my free time has been poured into this creation (just ask my fiance), and I’m proud of what we’ve accomplished thus far.
There’s other variables that I haven’t included in this list like the purchasing of podcasting equipment, the registering of domains, and the purchasing of a podcast server, but I feel those are somewhat self explanatory things that if one were to dig deeper into our top 3 things on the agenda, they’d be able to find for themselves.
If I were to guess, I’d say we will be up and running with the podcast and YouTube by the month’s end. That is our goal at least.
So as I stated above, if anyone has any suggestions or questions about the process, please comment or drop us a line on the Contact page here on the blog. Also, if you’d like to keep up with Dave and I, follow us on our Twitter, Like our Facebook page, or follow our Instagram. Or if you’re feeling froggy, hit up the trifecta! Until next time…..
